Once again, Kudzu will be participating in the Alpharetta Artsfest April 19 (Saturday) and 20 (Sunday). This was a great fundraiser for us last year and was alot of fun. This year should be even FUNNER! (ok, more fun!)
This year, we have a theme - Pirates and Princesses. The City wanted to give children an opportunity to make their own costumes and then perform games with those costumes. Should be lots of fun. We are hoping to have a castle backdrop, with pirate skull and crossbone flags and princess (castle) pendants. Our teenage girls will be dressed up as fairies and will be performing Sleeping Beauty on both days and working with the little girls to make their own princess costumes with princess makeup. And we will have teen boys to help the boys with their pirate costumes.
So here is what we are looking for!
Actresses. We still need two teenage girls to be fairies in Sleeping Beauty. Need to commit to approx. 11 - 5 on either Sat or Sun. Would act in the 10 minute skit, then work with little girls on their costumes, then run the theatre games with the little kids.
Pirate helpers. We need a few teenage boys to help the little boys make their pirate costumes and to run the theatre games with the little boys.
Face Painters (age 15 through adult). We need just a few very artistic people to be face painters. They want us to increase the level of artisticness here! We will be conducting a face painting class ahead of time for those that sign up. We will just be doing about 4 designs for boys and 4 for girls.
Booth Sitters. (middle school through adult) In exchange for free booth space, tent, tables, and chairs, we agree to provide volunteers to booth sit for the artists if they need to be away from their booth for 15 minutes to eat, take a break, etc. This was a suprisingly fun activity last fall and resulted in art donations to Kudzu which have been sold for hundreds of dollars. Hurry up and sign up before the Henry family takes all of the spaces!
Kudzu Booth Management. This person(s) helps setup the booth, runs the Kudzu booth, assists with issues, jumps in where needed, answers questions about the theatre, hands out Kudzu season brochures and postcards for the upcoming shows, and sells tickets for upcoming shows.
Please email Suzy Ekman at
ekman@mindspring.com, or call at 404 379 8110, if you would like to sign up to help - along with the hours that you would be available. Most people last year signed up for a 2 - 4 hour time slot - this seemed to work well.
Basket Donations. We will have three baskets this year and would appreciate any donations you might have for the baskets. If you have anything, just bring it to the theatre:
Date Night: wine, glasses, starbucks gift cert, dinner gift cert, spa stuff
Pirates: anything pirate. swords, flags, etc, etc,
Princesses: anything fluffy, pink, and showy
THANK YOU!
