Ichabod Crane, the new schoolmaster, arrives in Sleepy Hollow and his bumbling awkward manner and correctness give the townsfolk reason to take notice. Soon enough, though, his genteel manner impresses the ladies, including Katrina Van Tassel, the town belle. The men are far less thrilled, especially Katrina’s beau Brom Bones who begins plotting to rid himself of this unwanted rival. Matters come to a head during the Van Tassel’s Halloween party, after which Icabod is accosted by a fiendish apparition, the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow. The next morning Icabod has disappeared leaving behind only a song in the wind and a new legend is born.
