Mr. Jordan is checking in new arrivals at the Gates of heaven. He is interrupted by the arrival of Joe Pendelton, an attractive prizefighter, who refuses to admit he is dead and induces Jordan to look up the "records" which reveal that Joe is not scheduled to arrive for another sixty years. Joe starts to return to earth but learns that his body has been cremated and he has no body to return to. Jordan promises to find Joe another body but that turns out to be harder than anyone could ever imagine.
